Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia has ruled the respective service officers of following institutions to be deployed in the liquidation of fire occurring in Borjomi Municipality in Samtskhe-Javakheti Region of Georgia: Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture with an aim of extinguishing the fire in an uninterrupted manner.

At this point in time, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has mobilized the following in Borjomi Municipality in the fire-fighting efforts:

250 fire-fighters and emergency rescuers;

50 fire-fighting, emergency rescue and other types of hardware;

Fire is being monitored with drones;

Fire-fighting efforts involve 3 helicopters from the fleet of the Border Protection Police;

Special Task Force Department has deployed 300 officers on the spot;

Officers from respective units of the local police are mobilized.

Defense forces of Georgia are already engaged in the fire-fighting efforts in Borjomi Municipality. Special caterpillar fire-fighting vehicles (multi-purpose towing with light armored vehicles for emergency rescue) (aka MTLB) are currently used on the spot from the Army Logistic Command, along with water carriers and high terrain fire-fighting machinery.

East Command Military Personnel will join the fire-fighting taskforce from tomorrow morning.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has already sent bulldozers and water carriers (trucks with water tanks) to Borjomi Valley. By now water carriers are being mobilized from other regions as well.

Staff from the National Forest Agency subordinated to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia are engaged in the fire-fighting effort as well.
