Head of Government Administration Launches a Conference Unveiling the Updated Principles of Public Administration Print Version

Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration launched a conference unveiling the updated principles of public administration today. Event was organized with a joint initiative of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and European Union (EU) in collaboration with Support for Improvement in Governance and Management (SIGMA) and Public Administration Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Participants of the conference heard welcoming remarks from Catalin Gherman, Deputy Director of the Cooperation Department from the EU Delegation to Georgia; Lisa Kovack, Deputy Head of Democracy, Rights and Governance Office of the USAID.

High-level panel discussion was held within the scope of the meeting on the main achievements of the Public Administration Reform currently implemented in Georgia and plans for future. Also, participants of the conference discussed the significance of the updated principles in the process of an improved implementation of the reform.

Conference engaged about 80 representatives of public institutions, international organizations and civil society organizations, who scrutinized the details of the updated principles of public administration within the scope of thematic discussions.

Public Administration Reform was launched in 2015 in Georgia. It is based on the principles of EU Public Administration developed by OECD/SIGMA and aims at the following 5 key directions: policy planning and coordination; civil service and human resource management; accountability; public service rendering and public funds management (PFM).
