On August 26, 2011 was held the meeting of the Georgian Government. The agenda included 56 items.
Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about starting a new academic year. We present the Prime Minister's speech:
"Good day. A new academic year is starting in several weeks. We had three month to adjust schools and carry out repairs. We had three months to conduct examinations; Unified National Exams as well as exams for school children and certification exams for teachers. I think that this period has passed successfully and it was more successful than the same exams of the last year.
This year, we have implemented quite successful projects in education system. We have changed formula of voucher and introduced additional motivations for Principals and teachers in order that the Principals chose best teachers while teachers work on themselves to pass certification exams. This year, for the first time, we will have teachers with salaries amounting to GEL 1,000. This is the contingent who has passed certification and exams in computer skills and English language. This year, for the first time, we have awarded the Principals of those schools the students of which received best scores in the examinations. Respectively, we have created quite right motivations on every link of education sector.
I am sure that the reforms carried out in education sector this year will lead to a very positive result in the nearest future."
