Government of Georgia – Government Meetings 2011 Year

Meeting of the Government as of October 13, 2011

Meeting of the Government as of October 13, 2011 On October 13, 2011 was held the meeting of the Georgian Government. The agenda included 44 items.

Before the meeting started, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri, talked about his visit in Abu Dhabi. We present the Prime Minister's speech:

"Several days ago, a conference was held in Abu Dhabi, under the aegis of the World Economic Forum. The World Economic Forum has created the Anti-Corruption Council the aim of which is to establish anti-corruption policy for G20 countries and international organizations.

The abovementioned anti-corruption policy shall be implemented in different developing countries where international institutions are operating.

Very many experts, journalists, representatives of nongovernmental organizations and Interpol are the members of the anti-corruption commission. I was the only representative of government, as a representative of the government of Georgia, since our country is an example and model of fighting against corruption today.

It is very important that during the whole forum, the main issue was reforms carried out in Georgia; how corruption was defeated in Georgia in a very short period of time. In the nearest future, we will see an anti-corruption document which shall be based on reforms carried out in Georgia.

This is a very important fact and an additional promotion for our country. This is an opportunity to attract even more investors to the country. Today, when economy is not in a very good condition, investors are searching for new markets, new countries to make investments, and Georgia represents such a country today with its logistics centers, very good macroeconomic parameters, as well as with its very good example of fighting against corruption.
We see results of this, results of economic activities, when there are economic problems in the whole world and particularly in our region; Georgia has a good condition in this respect.

Macroeconomic parameters, successful fight against corruption and logistics centers, so-called logistics hub are the basis of development of the country that makes us suppose that economic growth still continuous, even more investors will visit Georgia and even more jobs will be created."
