2014-12-24

"Very important reform is about to be launched at the Ministry of Corrections," Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili stated at today's government meeting session.
According to the Prime Minister, this important reform requires a great deal of support from the Government.
Irakli Garibashvili asserted that the nongovernmental sector will be engaged in this process, and the reform will be transparent.
The head of government also addressed calls for the resignation of the Defense Minister. According to Irakli Garibashvili, this issue is not worth even discussing.
"These calls by the National Movement have raised a great deal of fuss, which, in my opinion, is quite inadequate, insulting, and disrespectful toward the Defense Ministry," the Prime Minister pointed out.
At the beginning of the government meeting, Irakli Garibashvili also discussed the protest rally held by RMG Gold employees outside the Government Administration.
The Prime Minsiter believes that the state must listen to both sides.
"The company employs three thousand families, which is very important to me. Its active operations are of utmost importance for the Bolnisi District. Of course, I prize every archeological site, every monument of culture. Bidzina Ivanishvili has financed the restoration of over 700 monuments of culture in Georgia. Since we took office, almost 120 monuments have been restored and up to 50 archeological excavations financed. In addition, Cartu Foundation has allocated additional financing for the restoration of 100 monuments. Also, the company plans to use its own financial resources to transport to the museum all artefacts that may be discovered [at the site]," the Prime Minister stated.
The head of government believes that the company should be allowed to continue its operations since leaving three thousand families unemployed equals irresponsibility and betrayal.
