On January 29, the Prime Minister led a government meeting at the Administration of the Government of Georgia, which discussed 36 issues on its agenda, with one postponed and 12 additional issues, and approved 47 issues.
At the decision of the government meeting, amendments were made to the Law of Georgia on Road Traffic. The goal of this bill is to align gradually with European standards to ensure vehicle inspection in line with the economic and social situation in the country. According to the bill, only the following vehicles operating in Georgia and registered in compliance with Georgian Legislation will be subjected to mandatory vehicle inspection till December 31, 2017: a) motor vehicles over 3,500 tons designed to transport cargo and b) passenger vehicles with eight seats besides the driver. In addition, periodical light car inspection will remain voluntary through December 31, 2017.
The Cabinet approved the draft decree of the Georgian Government on the approval of the Action Plan for the Development of the State Youth Policy of Georgia. This draft was prepared in cooperation with UNICEF and UNFPA. Independent experts were actively involved in the development of its conceptual part. The plan incorporates almost 200 projects to be implemented in 2015-2020. The approval of the draft will not entail the allocation of additional sums from the public funds, as the action plan set forth in the draft lists activities that will be implemented with assignations issued by relevant institutions and amounts granted by donor organizations.
Today's government meeting also approved the draft decree of the Government of Georgia on Activities to Be Implemented to Promote the Secondary Education of Asylum Seekers and Refugees or Humanitarian Status Holders in Georgia. According to the bill, the Ministry of Education and Science, on the basis of information provided by the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation, ensures the implementation of activities set forth in Georgian Legislation with a view to admitting asylum seekers and refugees or humanitarian status holders in Georgia to secondary schools.
