PRIME MINISTER PARTICIPATES IN OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF EURASIA TUNNEL Print Version

H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia participated in the official launch of Eurasia Tunnel, a key-note event held in Istanbul today. A 14.6 km tunnel laid underneath the seabed will connect the continents of Europe and Asia, thus contributing to the revival of the historic Silk Road.

Eurasia Tunnel trespasses 5.4 km underneath the Bosphorus. It has been built with a state-of-the-art technology to connect the newly constructed double-deck tunnel with the existing ones.

Officially launched tunnel was first ever crossed from Europe to Asia by H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Binali Yıldırım, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey and H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, along with other invited officials.

H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey affixed the memorial plate on the wall of the deepest segment of the tunnel.
