Prime Minister of Georgia delivered a speech during the session of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe on April 21. Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited Strasbourg on April 19-21 alongside with Georgian delegation.

In his speech at the PACE session Prime Minister emphasized the reforms in terms of protection of human rights, development of rule of law and institutional and democratic institutions and responded to the questions of the deputies.

"The goal of my being here is reasserting Georgia's loyalty to the European vision in terms when this vision is being challenged on a daily basis. This process is irreversible for Georgia. We made our decision long ago and have gone through a lot to become member state of united and free Europe. Georgia became a member of the CoE in 1999. It is hard to list other European institutions that embody Europe as freely and effortlessly as it does the Council of Europe. Within the frames of its national strategy, Georgia has acceded many organizations to become the member of European states. Nevertheless, it was the Council of Europe that ensured our Europeanization at the fullest extent. In the broadest sense of this term, this process encompasses honoring our historic roots and empowering of individual citizens. Europeanism is not a geographic notion, it is the sense of security, dignity and possibility to continue existence. It reflects social contract- my country will never be fully free, if its citizens are deprived of the possibility of decent living" - Prime Minister noted in his speech.

Prime Minister conducted meeting with the President of European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, Prime Minister was also hosted by the Secretary General of the CoE Thorbjorn Jagland. Pursuant to the meeting joint press conference was held.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili also conducted meeting with the President of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunt and attended the official celebratory ceremony dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Georgia's independence.
