As Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated today during the official opening of winter season in Gudauri, We want Gudauri to be a destination of global importance and Georgia to be mapped among the countries with the best winter resorts.

The Head of Government is convinced that this season will be special and truly unforgettable for tourists, because Gudauri is offering a number of innovations.

Gudauri meets the new season with six new aerial lifts, two of which are rehabilitated old lifts.

"It is exciting that of the six new aerial lifts three are in the Gudauri-Kobi section. It is important in terms of clustering Kobi, Gudauri, and Stepantzminda. These projects will enable us to increase Gudauri's traffic capacity for times, which means that tourists will enjoy an exceptionally comfortable environment without queues plaguing us all in the past. In addition, other infrastructural projects are in full swing. The water reservoir project is nearly finalized, and snowmaking infrastructure is already in place in most of Gudauri. We want Gudauri to be a destination of global importance, and that requires a well-functioning snowmaking system," the Prime Minister stated.

In addition, 82 Patrol Police officers have completed a special winter resort patrolling training, and patrol teams with relevant equipment are working in every winter resort: Gudauri, Bakuriani, Zemo (Upper) Adjara, and Svaneti. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to them.

"This year, we are celebrating Gudauri's 30th anniversary. 30 years ago, when the resort was established, the key message was for Georgia's winter destinations to transform into the best in the world. Similarly, our task today is to continue implementing this message in real life. I am convinced these and similar infrastructural projects will ensure that Georgia gains a foothold on the world map as a country with the most successful winter resorts," Mamuka Bakhtadze said.

The Prime Minister expressed special gratitude to those involved in the implementation of projects in Gudauri, also to Doppelmayr and other companies that have completed important projects within tight deadlines. The Prime Minister wished Gudauri's visitors a joyful season.

In celebrating the new winter season's opening, the Head of Government was joined by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia, the Director of the Mountain Resorts Development Company, and representatives of Doppelmayr.
