Today, the Cabinet held a meeting chaired by Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze at the Administration of the Government. The Cabinet discussed 24 issues on its meeting agenda.
The cabinet decreed to increase the average financing of public schools in 2018 by 0.9 million GEL. This issue was raised at today's Government meeting by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Mikheil Batiashvili.
The Cabinet also decreed to increase the standard voucher corresponding to the financial norm per student, which is related to the school hours schedule expected to change in the 2018-2019 academic year at elementary-level Georgian-language public schools/sectors. The increase is included in this year's budget.

In addition, the Cabinet set the salary of inclusive education teachers at 400-500 GEL. According to this change, the salary of a special teacher will calculated like that of a public schoolteacher, in line with different criteria (education and qualification, work experience, workload, and others). In order to foster learning for students with special educational needs, the Cabinet also decided to amend financing for schools. In particular, while in the past a given school received additional 350 GEL per month for support students with special educational needs, now the financing will be 500 GEL.

Today, the Government approved a decree to provide 69 schools, of which 50 are located in the regions, with wireless internet connection. To this end, the Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency LEPL of the Ministry of Education, Science, culture and Sport of Georgia has been authorized to procure wireless internet infrastructure for public schools.
