In spring of 2020, Batumi will have a UEFA Category 4 stadium with 20,000 seats. The construction of the stadium, visited today by Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, is nearing completion.

At this stage, work is underway in several directions along the interior and exterior perimeters. The façade and roofing of the soccer stadium are completed, and so are the installation of PA systems and playing surface, while seats are being presently installed.

According to the Head of Government, the stadium will be able to host international soccer games, which is very important not only for the development of sports and the city, but also for promoting tourism throughout the country.

"It is one of the most important projects implemented in the recent years not only in Adjara alone, but in the entire soccer infrastructure. It is a UEFA Category 4 stadium to be completed in coming March to contribute to the development of both tourism and sports in the region. As you know, the Batumi Dinamo FC has practically secured the country's vice-championship, and I am confident that every soccer fan in Batumi, Adjara, Western Georgia, and throughout the country for that matter will have an opportunity to root at this modern, advanced hi-tech stadium, so that we all may celebrate victories that we will have in the future-which we will surely have. Once again, as the country's vice-champion, the Batumi Dinamo FC will be entitled for participation in international tournaments starting next year," Giorgi Gakharia stated.

The Prime Minister visited the construction site of the Batumi international-standard stadium in the company of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tornike Rizhavadze and President of the Football Federation Levan Kobiashvili.
