I wish all you a Happy New Year! We have gathered here in this wonderful place to light this most gorgeous New Year tree, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated in his speech at the ceremony of lighting up Tbilisi's main New Year tree which the Head of Government attended in the company of his family.

According to Irakli Garibashvili, 2021 has been quite difficult, though also marking a major turning point.

"Traditionally, we are lighting up a New Year tree to prepare for New Year. Admittedly, 2021 has been quite difficult, though also marking a major turning point, because we have accomplished a lot, ensuring peace and tranquility in the country. I once again greet all of you and wish, above all else, peace and health to you and your families, children, and parents. I greet our fellow citizens abroad, outside our country. I also greet our fellow citizens in Abkhazia and Ossetia, representatives of our diaspora. From this stage, I would like to thank our hero doctors, our hero police officers, our service members for their service throughout this difficult year. Allow me to embrace and thank you all of you. I wish you peace, prosperity, happiness, love, and our unification in the coming year!" the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government and Tbilisi's Mayor, together with their families, lit up Tbilisi's main New Year tree. The festive event was also attended by the Speaker of Parliament, MPs, the Chairman and members of Tbilisi's Municipal Assembly.
