Economic Council Led by Prime Minister of Georgia Discusses Specific Steps to Be Taken for Acceleration of Economic Growth Print Version

Working meeting of the Economic Council was held and led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was focused on the specific steps to be taken for a greater acceleration of economic growth in the country, which include the improvement of public infrastructure and long-term construction projects commissioned by the public sector. It is commonly known that the Government of Georgia incentivizes the construction sector to attract additional financial resources as they have guaranteed contracts on the construction and rehabilitation of public infrastructure.

Discussion was also related to the performance of public programs. The Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted that transformation of the existing social policy, creation of employment opportunities for the population of the country and reduction of poverty are the key priorities of the Government of Georgia.

Working meeting was also dedicated to the discussion of mechanisms leading to the intensification of investments in the energy sector of the country, predominantly focusing on renewable energy sources.

Also, focus was made on the acceleration of privatization process in view of resorts and recreation facilities, attracting more investments towards this end as it will lead to a more accelerated economic recovery in Georgia.
