Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili visited Batumi Maritime Academy's new training center. At the academy, Garibashvili was hosted by Director of the Maritime Transport Agency Tamar Ioseliani.

Since 2012, the state has invested almost 20 million GEL in the development of Batumi Maritime Academy, the Head of Government emphasized, singling out the academy as one of the finest maritime schools in the Black Sea Region.

The seafarer training center has been fully rehabilitated, with computer equipment replenished and simulation software updated. Based on a relevant contract with WARTSILA, this international company will provide the training center with software maintenance and automatic software update.

Presently, no seafarer training center in the Black Sea Region has the latest 6.0 model programs boasting refined visualization, detailed sophistication, and effects, a factor allowing for training in a maximally realistic setting. All types of practical exercises of every level of difficulty can be accomplished using simulations.

The training center now has an exam room and an auditorium, with an upgraded waiting area and front office. The facility has been renovated and refurbished, with gear and devices necessary for learning and training sessions procured.

Thanks to the recent full software update, the seafarer learning, training, and certification center has switched to a so-called smart support system, a step significantly improving the quality of simulation training and evaluation of seafarers.

For fully upgrading the seafarer training center and the engine room laboratory, and for ensuring maximal compatibility with modern ships, a million GEL has been spent this year.

In addition, a modern multifunctional training pool has also opened for Batumi State Maritime Academy's students and active seafarers.

At the training swimming pool, the academy's students and active seafarers can, in conditions maximally close to real-life settings, participate in primary and collective safety, sea rescue, and rescue operations trainings. The pool also allows for underwater swimming exercises.

The Prime Minister received a model of a ship created by the students as the academy's present.

On his visit to Batumi Maritime Academy, the Prime Minister was accompanied Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tornike Rijvadze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, and Head of the Government Administration's Regional Liaison Department Leri Barnabishvili.
