Prime Minister of Georgia Visits Wrecking Houses in Batumi that Are to be Substituted with Modern Housing Compounds Under a State Program Print Version

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia together with Tornike Rizhvadze, Chairman of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and Archil Chikovani, Mayor of Batumi visited wrecking houses that are scheduled for substitution within the scope of a targeted state program branded as Batumi Without Wrecking Houses by the Government of Georgia.

The Head of Government of Georgia met with the dwellers of wrecking houses and listened to their needs, thereby sharing the information about the program aiming at the substitution of their housing.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the problem of wrecking houses is pressing in Batumi, as they cause threat to the health and livelihood of local residents. Commitment was made to solve the issue in the most efficient manner.

Targeted state program branded as Batumi Without Wrecking Houses was approved by the Government of Georgia on March 28, 2022. Almost 300 residential blocks will be fully substituted within the scope of the program with new housing of modern type and over 3000 families will continue living in safe conditions.

With this aim, the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will offer bank guarantees to every developer and construction company for the successful implementation of the program in the volume of 150 MLN GEL.

Prime Minister of Georgia was accompanied to the site of wrecking houses by Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Irakli Karseladze, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia; Larry Barnabishvili, Department Head for Regional Coverage at the Government Administration of Georgia.
