Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau.

The meeting focused on projects implemented under the United Nations Development Program and future cooperation. The Georgian side pointed out its appreciation for the UNDP's contribution to empowering Georgia's democratic processes and economic development, with UNDP's assistance being equally crucial throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and in the area of environmental protection.

The meeting also underlined UNDP's contribution to the development of the new National Human Rights Strategy for 2022-2033.

Special attention was paid to UNDP assistance in reforming public administration, pointing out the successful years-long cooperation in this direction poised to continue in the future as well.

The meeting also discussed the situation in the occupied territories, emphasizing that Georgia appreciates the United Nations' support for families affected by the Russo-Georgian conflict through humanitarian projects implemented in the occupied regions.

The conversation also touched on the military action in Ukraine. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Georgia's solidarity with Ukraine and support in humanitarian and political terms, including in all international formats. The Prime Minister also underlined the critical role of the international community in ending the war as soon as possible.

The meeting at the Government Administration was attended by UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia Nick Beresford and Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.
