My wish for our Ukrainian friends is to establish peace, end this war fast, and return to their homes in peace, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated after meeting with Ukrainian schoolchildren at Mykhailo Hrushevsky Public School #41.

Georgia is and will remain maximally supportive and attentive to Ukraine, the Head of Government stated.

"Today, we met with Ukrainian schoolchildren, who are staying in Georgia temporarily, and today we are hosting our Ukrainian friends, their children. It's very symbolic that, today, my children and I met with first-graders. Once again, I wish our Ukrainian friends a speedy return to their homes. We have repeatedly gone through the pain they are experiencing now, and my wish for our Ukrainian friends is to establish peace, end this war fast, and return to their homes in peace. Our citizens are doing their best. We rank first among 190 countries around the globe for providing in excess of 500 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, a gift and support from the Georgian people to the Ukrainian people. Of course, we are and will be maximally supportive and attentive to the Ukrainians in Georgia," the Prime Minister said.

The Head of Government took a personal interest in the learning conditions in the Ukrainian-language sector, and spoke with the schoolchildren.

On Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili's decision, all Ukrainian-language sector schoolchildren received notebooks and Paschal presents.

As for the learning conditions, the Head of Government was briefed by Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli, who pointed out that, thanks to the hard work of the Ministry's team, the Ukrainian-language sector at Tbilisi's Public School #41-previously out of operation since 2011-resumed within two weeks. The sector offers 1st through 11th-grade courses in the Ukrainian language. The schoolchildren now enjoy a Ukrainian language and literature classroom equipped with Ukrainian books for children and adolescents.

In close cooperation with Ukraine's Embassy in Georgia, highly qualified teachers were selected for each subject, including specialists newly arriving from Ukraine and Georgia-based professionals. Hourly wages for the teachers will be financed by the Georgian Government in line with the national curriculum.

As of today, 211 schoolchildren have expressed their desire to enroll in the Ukrainian sector. Their numbers are growing on a daily basis.

The Ministry of Education and Science has equipped every schoolchild with textbooks and notebooks necessary for learning. As for the schoolchildren, based on an agreement between the Ministry and mobile operators, they enjoy affordable internet packages.

Notably, on the Georgian Government's decision, schoolchildren unable to continue studies in Ukrainian schools because of the military action in Ukraine will be able, upon request, to continue studying in Georgia, in which case they will be admitted to Georgian schools based on simplified procedures. According to the latest statistics, a total of 668 schoolchildren of different ages have been admitted to schools in Tbilisi and the regions.
