Prime Minister visits Kutaisi’s Paliashvili Street under rehabilitation within the scope of Renewed regions program Print Version

Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as part of his regional tour, visited the rehabilitation site on Paliashvili Street and familiarized himself with work planned in the Central Boulevard of Kutaisi, projects worth 10 million GEL.

Said rehabilitation is implemented under the Renewed regions program covering Georgia's 63 municipalities, with its investment value at the initial stage alone reaching 500 million GEL. At the Prime Minister's initiative, projects under the program involve urban renovation in the regions, including the development of important municipality-owned and private sites.

According to the Head of Government, the program's implementation seeks to ensure a clean and tidy environment for the residents and guests of the municipality. The Prime Minister spoke with locals in the Boulevard.

Notably, the project area on Paliashvili Street features a building dated 1860, an important architectural element embodying the historical stages in the square's urban development. In 2013, its status was suspended, remaining inoperable and in danger since. After rehabilitation, the building's multifunctional space will boast an amphitheater, an exhibition hall, and a terrace for various types of high-level meetings. Importantly, the building's architectural value and historical function will be preserved. The project's total value is 5,200,000 GEL.

Notably, under the Renewed Regions program initiated by the Prime Minister, infrastructural projects are nearing completion in every municipality of Imereti Region: 5 million GEL's worth of work is underway in Terjola, where 5 buildings and 2 parks are under rehabilitation along Rustaveli Street, and 16 buildings and 2 parks will be renovated on 2 streets in Vani. Also, the territory adjacent to Chiatura's cinema is being upgraded, and the square gardens and a skatepark are under construction on Tsereteli Street and the territory of the House of Culture.

Works under infrastructural projects financed by the program are also in the finishing phase in Zestaponi, where 5.3 million GEL was allocated to rehabilitate and reinforce the energy safety of 15 buildings along Davit Aghmashenebeli Street. In addition, the square gardens near Davit Aghmashenebeli Street and Ushangi Chkheidze Theater are under rehabilitation, and so are 9 buildings a square garden in Baghdati's central section, with the sidewalks along Sachkhere's Freedom and Mukhran Machavariani Streets, and the fences and wicker gates of the nearby homes, being upgraded. Large-scale works valued at 12.6 million GEL are underway in Tkibuli to rehabilitate and reinforce the energy safety of 17 buildings on Kostava and Gamsakhurdia Streets. In addition, 8 million GEL has been allocated for urban upgrading on Queen Tamar Street and the nearby square garden in Samtredia. On Khoni's central street, 9 buildings and parks are under rehabilitation. In Tskaltubo, the rehabilitation of Galaktion Tabidze Street and 6 buildings is nearing completion. The nearby pedestrian walk has been upgraded, and the rehabilitation of the entrance staircase to the school is underway. Under the projects financed by the program, building energy safety reinforcement works have been carried out, with windows and doors replaced, to have a positive impact on the buildings' heating expenses. Sidewalks, street lighting systems, and recreation areas have also been built.

At this point, invitations to tender have already been announced for works under stage two of the Renewed Regions programs, to implement infrastructural projects in in Kvareli, Telavi, Sighnaghi, Dedoplistskaro, Gurjaani, Vani, Khoni, Rustavi, Gori, Poti, Kutaisi, Tkibuli, and Batumi.

On his visit to Kutaisi, the Head of Government was accompanied by Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, Head of the State Security Service Giorgi Liluashvili, Head of the Government Administration's Regional Liaison Department Leri Barnabishvili, and Kutaisi Mayor Ioseb Khakhaleishvili.
