Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission within the scope of his Working Visit to Brussels today.

The Head of Government of Georgia spoke at the meeting about the significance of the EU Membership Application, completed Self-Assessment Questionnaire and measures to be taken in future.

The Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted the significance of the fully-fledged membership of Georgia into the EU. Dignitaries also reviewed the trend of intensive cooperation advancing between Georgia and the EU in recent years.

Progress achieved in the country towards the implementation of economic, policy and democratization reforms has been noted at the meeting.

Attention was paid to the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA) and successful cooperation in various areas of the country.

Security position witnessed in the region has been discussed as well. Reference was made to the situation created as a result of the military aggression of Russia towards Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed gratitude to the High Representative of the European Union for the solid support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
