Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as part of his regional Shida Kartli tour, visited a family-run greenhouse farm in the village of Kvemo Nikozi. The Head of Government was hosted by farmers Elza Okropiridze and Vladimer Mariamidze, registered owners of 1.1 hectares of land in the village of Kvemo Nikozi and beneficiaries of a state program initiated by the Prime Minister to support the owners of agricultural land lots.

The Prime Minister also meet with other farmers living near the greenhouse farm to discuss various state programs together.

Notably, agro-points have been awarded to more than 100,000 farmers under the State Program for Supporting the Owners of Agricultural Lands, launched on May 10 on Irakli Garibashvili's initiative.

As Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia informed the Head of Government during the meeting with farmers, more than 1,200 farmers have activated their agro-cards, with 340 of them having taken advantage of state assistance and cashing in their agro-points at specialized stores.

Under the program, 300 GEL per hectare subsidies will be issued to owners/co-owners of 0.25 through 1.25 hectares of land. According to the Prime Minister, more than 300,000 smallholding farmers will enjoy the benefits above. The program's budget amounts to 35 million GEL.

Cashing in agro-points is now possible in over 300 specialized stores across Georgia. Eventually, more than 500 retail stores will serve beneficiary farmers.

The Head of Government was accompanied by representatives of executive, legislative, and local authorities.
