Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili visits 14.4 million GEL rehabilitation site on Gori’s main street Print Version

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as part of his Shida Kartli regional tour, was joined today by Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze in familiarizing himself with the rehabilitation work underway on Gori's main street. The project, valued at 14.4 million GEL, will be completed this summer, including the rehabilitation of a nearby park.

Financed under the Renewed Regions program, this project has already scaled up energy efficiency in the site's buildings, also replacing doors and windows, to have a positive impact on heating expenses. Sidewalks, street lights, and recreation areas have also been completed.

Notably, the rehabilitation of Gori's Akhalbaghi Park will be finalized this summer, with the World Bank having provided 9.1 million GEL in financing. The project is designed to upgrade the territory, rehabilitate existing and build new infrastructure, build sidewalks, rehabilitate administrative and other facilities, upscale the territory's artificial lake, and put in place a sports area.

In addition, the rehabilitation of historical Royal Street has in Gori has been finalized. The project, financed by the World Bank with 2.1 million GEL, targeted the pedestrian path, sidewalks, drainage systems, lighting, and road signs.

According to the Head of Government, such large-scale work will enhance the city's tourist appeal.
On the Prime Minister's initiative, the 4-year Renewed Regions program covers Georgia's 63 municipalities, with the estimated value of its first phase alone reaching 500 GEL.

At this point, invitations to tender have already been announced for works under stage two of the Renewed Regions programs, to implement infrastructural projects in Kvareli, Telavi, Sighnaghi, Dedoplistskaro, Gurjaani, Vani, Khoni, Rustavi, Gori, Poti, Kutaisi, Tkibuli, and Batumi.

Irakli Garibashvili was accompanied by representatives of executive, legislative, and local authorities.
