Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia held and led the first meeting of the Government Commission to plan and organize measures needed for the establishment and construction of the Centre of Georgian Culture on River Jordan in the vicinity of the site of baptism of Jesus Christ within the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Decision was made at the meeting to establish a permanent Work Group within the scope of the Commission, which will develop a concept for the Centre of Georgian Culture on River Jordan.

The Prime Minister of Georgia noted that work on the concept should be completed in the most efficient time to launch the construction works for the Centre of Georgian Culture.

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia will personally manage the work of the Government Commission. Representatives of the Patriarchy of Georgia are actively engaged in the work of the Government Commission.

First meeting of the Government Commission for the Establishment of a Centre of Georgian Culture on River Jordan was attended by Thea Tsulukiani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia; Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia; Rati Bregadze, Minister of Justice of Georgia; Lasha Khutsishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia; Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration; Alaverdi Metropolitan David Makharadze and Deacon Andria Jaghmaidze, Head of Public Relations Service of the Patriarchy of Georgia.

Land plot of 4000 SQM in the title ownership of Georgia is located in the vicinity of the site of baptism of Jesus Christ, within 15-20 meters from River Jordan.

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia took part in the transfer of the land plot to Georgia together with H.R.H. Ghazi bin Muhammad, Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
