We have successfully completed negotiations with Borjomi's shareholders, and our state, the Georgian Government, will become a shareholder of the group owning Borjomi's factory, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated at today's Cabinet meeting.

According to him, this is a gratuitous deal, and the relevant process has been finalized in line with the norms of international law.

"The first topic involves the Borjomi bottling factory and its future fate. As you know, a few weeks ago I promised the public to bring good news, and today I would like to inform you that we have successfully completed negotiations with Borjomi's shareholders, and our state, the Georgian Government, will become a shareholder of the group owning Borjomi's factory. This is a gratuitous deal. We will receive stocks free of charge, and the state will become a co-owner of the Borjomi factory, our national treasure, our proud and joy. And every problem that Borjomi and its employees previously had in terms of operation, management, functioning-every problem will be solved. We have coordinated this issue with international partners, with consultations with UK regulators, and I would like to emphasize that this deal was carried out in line with the norms of international law. I would like to thank the Ministries of Economy and Justice for their active, productive work toward the successful completion of this deal. I congratulate every employee of Borjomi," the Prime Minister said.

In reference to the part of Borjomi's employees considering themselves mistreated by the company, the Head of Government emphasized that no one should feel mistreated.

"I know that tens of employees feel mistreated by the local company, with 50 employees laid off. Like I said last week, I instructed Mister Zurab Azarashvili to deal with this issue, so he is actively involved in this process. After the state becomes a co-owner, we will engage more actively in the Borjomi enterprise, and we will solve every problem. I want our citizens to know that no one will be deprived of justice, no one will be mistreated, not a single Borjomi employee, and we will answer every question. Zurab Azarashvili and Levan Davitashvili will join the process, and we should get to the bottom of this issue as soon as possible, to make sure that no one feels mistreated, and that every rightful demand of the employees is met. No one should feel mistreated," the Prime Minister added.
