During today's briefing at the Administration of the Government, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili comments on European perspective granted to Georgia; European perspective has been granted to Georgia deservedly, Head of Government says.

"Good afternoon! It was a truly historic day [yesterday]. Georgia - our country - received what we deserved. It is a merit-based achievement! European Perspective has been granted to Georgia - our country - deservedly! Of course, you have seen that it was publicly and openly worded out that Europe wide-opened its doors to our country in a real sense. It is a recognition of the aspiration of our people towards European ideals. It is a recognition of our loyalty towards them. It is a recognition of our daring, principle position, fight and outcome of the work delivered by our government during these 10 years.
"We heard their assessment implying that by granting a European Perspective, doors of Europe have been permanently opened for our country and it was explicitly worded out that European Perspective has been granted to the country to eventually become a member state of the EU. It is indeed a deserved achievement and I congratulate the Georgian people.

"As for the candidacy status, we also heard the assessments, promises and statements made by the European leaders, asserting that as soon as we deliver on the priorities defined by them, we - Georgia - will thereafter be granted a candidacy status. Of course, it gives us additional incentive to deliver all those conditions - all those priorities - that were defined by the EU in the most efficient manner. We stand ready for this.

"I wish to state that our government is - our authorities are - mobilized to meet all the conditions defined by the EU on time, to make sure that we get the candidacy status on time.

"Also, I once again wish to congratulate Ukraine and Moldova. They also received the European Perspective along with the status - I would say - as an incentivizing gift. I congratulate them on this recognition and want to wish Ukraine and Moldova every success, while wishing their people prosperity and peace. You may well be aware that Ukraine is at the heaviest war and Moldova is also in a most difficult situation. So, we do not envy their incentives at all; on the contrary, I once again want to congratulate and wish them success.

"Lastly, I wish to say that our common goal should be to continue building and developing our country in the most calm and stable manner by maintaining peace and achieving every pre-defined goal in the most efficient manner.

"Our authorities, our government, our ruling party stand ready for this. You may well be aware that one direct instruction or clause is indicated in the listed conditions - let's call it a condition - for our society, our political forces to end the polarization. On behalf of our team, let me once again express full readiness towards this end. We always stand ready for a constructive dialogue; we have never closed our doors; I wish to highlight and state most clearly that we have full readiness - we always had and will always do - to work together and have genuine debates, discussion, dialogue on topics related to the future of our country, our national interests. It should be happening in a normal, calm, constructive, healthy environment. This is our desire. I hope that this responsibility will be considered and shared by our opponents, because one of the main - the very first condition on ending polarization - is their obligation as well. It is their responsibility too. It cannot be delivered only by the ruling team, ruling party or the government, if real, tangible steps are not made by them as well.

"And, once again, I wish to state in an optimistic manner that I believe that they will put their ambitions and desires, their personal goals below the best interests of the country, as most important of all for us is our state, future of our country and only after that our party or personal interests. Thank you very much again. I once again want to wish peace, unification of our country and our European future to our people. Future of Georgia lies within the EU!" Irakli Garibashvili said.
