Decision of the European Council on granting a European Perspective to Georgia for EU accession and partnership existing between the two nations were among the key topics of discussion at a meeting of Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia and Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of France in Madrid today. The French Presidency of the European Council and its role were highlighted at the meeting, along with the significance of support demonstrated by France in the process of European integration of Georgia.
The Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of France for supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Georgia.
Dynamic and intensive cooperation existing between Georgia and France both in bilateral and multilateral formats was stressed at the meeting as well. Readiness was pledged towards intensifying the current cooperation further in future.
Irakli Garibashvili invited Emmanuel Macron to Georgia at any convenient time within his schedule.
