Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Romanian Colleague in Bucharest Print Version

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Nicolae Ciucă, Prime Minister of România within the scope of his Working Visit to Bucharest today.

It was highlighted at the meeting that signing of the Quadrilateral Agreement on Green Energy Development and Transmission by and between the leaders of partner countries, is a milestone event against the background of current challenges of energy security in Europe.

Irakli Garibashvili noted that this project acquires a huge significance for a greater energy security and increased connectivity in the Black Sea region. It is worth noting that the original idea implying the construction of a submarine electricity cable in the basin of the Black Sea was initiated by the two countries and it ultimately grew into a wide-scale European project.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the country is committed to the efficient implementation of the initiative.

Discussion was also related to the significance of current sectoral cooperation and its further intensification between the two strategic partner countries inter alia towards trade and economy, defense and security, education and culture. As the Head of Government of Georgia noted at the meeting, Romania remains to be among the leading trade partners of Georgia in recent years and Georgia is ready to fully absorb the available potential in trade and economy, as well as in different directions.

Recent decision on vital financial support for the improved defense and resilience of Georgia was highlighted, whereby Romania confirmed its firm political and practical support towards Georgia.


Irakli Garibashvili once again expressed gratitude to his Romanian colleague for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity, European and Euro-Atlantic integration agenda of Georgia.
