The program was launched on the Prime Minister's decision in 2023. Ten locations were selected at the initial stage. These are Borjomi, Bakuriani, Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Telavi, Zugdidi, Batumi, Mtskheta, Mestia, and Kazbegi. Based on the developed concepts, incremental preparatory and construction works are already underway in nine municipalities, while a tender competition is planned to be announced for the Bakuriani area.

One billion GEL has been allocated from the state budget for this 5-year program. It was noted during the conversation that the new state program will promote the development of tourism and the creation of jobs.
The Head of Government was also briefed on the ongoing and planned activities under the 2024 census. While underlining the importance of this matter, it was pointed out that the activity will be carried out based on international recommendations.

The Gonio development plan was also discussed by the Economic Council. According to the presented concept, considerable investments will be made into the sustainable development of the territory to encompass hospitality and residential complexes, malls, recreation and athletic infrastructure, and wetlands. Tens of thousands of jobs will be created throughout the period of the project's implementation.
