Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) today.

Mr. Stoltenberg congratulated Mr. Kobakhidze on his appointment to the position of the Prime Minister of Georgia. The Head of Government of Georgia expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General of NATO for the support demonstrated to the country.

Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia was discussed at a meeting held within the NATO HQ in Brussels. The Prime Minister of Georgia noted that integration with NATO is a foreign policy priority of the aspiring country and that this aim is duly solidified in the Constitution of Georgia.

Agenda of NATO-Georgia relations was discussed by the dignitaries at the meeting. Steps made towards integration were summarized, along with the specific plans of future cooperation. Focus was made on the Black Sea security. Significance of stability in the Black Sea region for ensuring Euro-Atlantic security was highlighted in this context.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General of NATO for the support and personal efforts demonstrated on the path of Georgia's integration with NATO, as well as for the firm support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, and for the non-recognition policy. Topics discussed at the meeting included the challenging security environment in the region and around the world. The Prime Minister of Georgia and Secretary-General of NATO discussed solutions to the current issues.
