History of our National Football Team started 30 years ago and we have succeeded for the first time over these 30 years to get to the tournament of the highest ranking - European Championship. This achievement fills us with immense pride! It was announced by Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Executive Government Meeting today.
The Head of Government of Georgia congratulated everyone on the historic victory and success achieved on the previous night.
"It is an outstanding, emotional day today. Thus, Executive Government Meeting is special as well. I want to congratulate everyone - our fellow citizens, emigrants - and what is most important - our footballers, on the historic victory and success achieved yesterday. History was truly written yesterday. It can be said out right that the history of our National Football Team took its origin 30 years ago and we have succeeded for the first time over these 30 years to get to the tournament of the highest ranking - European Championship. This achievement fills us with immense pride, of course! It is impossible to convey the feeling, happiness and price, which was experienced yesterday and which unified the entire country, in mere words. It can also be said out loud.
I wish to thank first and foremost our footballers, of course, members of our National Football Team for investing their heart and soul in the victory yesterday; I thank the coaching team headed by Willy Sagnol, our praiseworthy French Coach; management of the Georgian Football Federation - its President, Secretary-General and Vice-Presidents - each and all of them I thank in the most profound manner. Success that we ultimately gained yesterday was in the making for years. I also want to congratulate this historic victory to our veteran footballers as they have been creating this victory for dozens of years. I congratulate our veterans - heroes of May 13; I want to congratulate our veteran footballers in a truly special manner. Also, I wish to congratulate footballers of every and any generation, as they all have their share of contribution in this victory. Milestone achievement made by us and delivered by our boys yesterday is great merits to them all" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.
According to the Head of Government of Georgia, the Order of Honor will be granted to 26 footballers, the entire Coaching Team and management of the Georgian Football Federation.
"Together with MP Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, we took a decision about granting the Orders of Honor to our praiseworthy members of the National Football Team of Georgia - full composition. I wish to specify that 26 footballers summoned for the final tournaments will be awarded. I congratulate each one of them on the Order of Honor. Also, we will be nominating the entire Coaching Team and management of the Georgian Football Federation. These people are truly honorable and it is the least we can do to reward them on behalf of the country and state. I wish to once again congratulate you all and congratulate our footballers, National Football Team, Georgian Football Federation. I am confident that great victories are ahead of us! What is most important, I wish every success to our National Team for the European Championship!" concluded Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia.
